Battle of wine in Rioja

The end of June saw 'La Batalla de Vino' take place in the town of Haro, Rioja. Established in 1897, the event (which coincides with the festival of San Pedro) sees the 5,000 inhabitants of Rioja dress in white and and then procede to cover each other with wine. This year over 50,000 litres of wine were used in the battle - we only hope that our wonderful reserva, Valenciso, was kept under close guard that day!
