Bodegas Valdelana
The Bodegas Valdelana is situated in the town of Elciego, reputed to be the birthplace of rioja wine. It is built over six underground cellars hewn from the rock, dating back to the 16th century, where the wine is aged.

The family Valdelana have produced wine in the Elciego area since the late 19th century. Bodegas Valdelana currently processes grapes from 150 hectares of choice vineyards, which are primarily planted with Tempranillo, Viura, Graciano, Mazuelo and Malvasía (amongst others) are also grown.

In keeping with the heritage of Elciego in the history of Rioja wines, the Bodega’s attic holds an ethnographic museum, documenting the development of viticulture in Rioja Alavesa. The exhibits include a wide range of objects, from utensils used 6,500 years ago by the area’s first inhabitants, to wooden and iron viticultural tools used in the 19th century. An interesting place to visit.

Bodegas Valdelana does not currently have a website.
